Farmers Market says farewell to the 2013 season on Oct. 12

Chris Neil will play acoustic rock and blues favorites during the last day of the 2013 market at Mike Wallace Park.

Just one more happy Saturday for the 2013 Kingston Farmers Market Season remains. The last day of the market is Oct. 12.

There is still plentiful local produce continues to appear — apples, pears, onions, beans, beets, tomatoes, carrots, peppers, garlic, potatoes, squash, salad greens, herbs — and ripe soft fruit from just across the Cascades. Your suppers rounded out with pork, chicken, eggs. Your tasty hors d’oeuvres? Bakery yummies, chocolate, cheese, and nuts … We think our vendors are the best.

2013 has been a good season for new vendors. We have great copper art from Massey Copper, luscious pastries from Pastry Infusions, astounding images from Bird Photography, and beautiful woodworking by Studio Nineteen, to name a few. The Kingston Farmers Market began in 1990 as a venue for locals to buy and sell. When you think about the benefits of commerce in your local community, think Kingston Farmers Market.

Speaking of 1990, the 2014 Season will be the 25th year at Mike Wallace Marina Park. What will we make of that come next May?

  • EBT/SNAP (popularly called the Food Stamp and Senior Nutrition Programs) is available, come to the Market Booth for your token exchange.

Keeping the Kingston in the Kingston Farmers Market

  • Simple Guidelines for Using the Market Community Booth are on the website. We want more of Kingston’s 25+ community groups and organizations to take advantage of the Market as a neighborhood meeting spot and day in the sun.
  • During the winter, the Market’s Leadership Group will be reviewing the 2013 Season and asking what can we do even better in 2014? What new ideas could take root next year? We’ll be publishing a short Shopper Survey and would appreciate your taking a few minutes to share your experiences and ideas, please look for it in November!

For more information, visit the market’s website at www.KingstonFarmersMarket.org, or call Clint Dudley, market manager, at 360-297-7683. See you at the Market.
