Driver suffers medical emergency, crashes into coffee shop in Gorst

4 people were injured and taken to the hospital

Four people were injured and sent to the hospital after a driver of a vehicle suffered a medical emergency and crashed into a coffee shop in Gorst on Christmas Eve, per the Washington State Patrol.

The driver, a 47-year-old Bremerton man, suffered a medical emergency before the crash and was sent to Tacoma General Hospital, along with a 47-year-old woman from Bremerton, who sustained injuries from the crash, a WSP memo says.

There were also two children in the car, a 5-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl, who were also injured and transported to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma. Neither were wearing seatbelts. The driver of the vehicle is facing charges of second-degree negligent driving, per WSP.

The crash caused power lines to go down and a sewage spill, which the Department of Ecology responded to, WSP Trooper Katherine Weatherwax said in an X post.
