DISTRICT COURT| Man, woman face trafficking in stolen property charges

A Port Orchard man and woman were charged with trafficking stolen property on Nov. 12 in Kitsap County District Court.

A Port Orchard man and woman were charged with trafficking stolen property on Nov. 12 in Kitsap County District Court.

According to charging papers, Michael Covey Cooper, 23, was charged with first-degree trafficking in stolen property, while Melissa Diane Johnston, 26, was charged second-degree trafficking in stolen property.

Court documents stated a man who owns a rental house on SW Salmonberry Road reported on Nov. 11 that several items were stolen from a storage shed near the home. The man reported a large red-colored rolling Craftsman toolbox was missing. He told investigators that Cooper and Johnston were living in the home at the time of the theft. They are in jail on an unrelated case that also involves theft and stolen property. Deputies reported that Cooper sold the large toolbox to a Bremerton pawn broker.

Charges against the following individuals were filed in Kitsap County District court recently:

Nov. 12: Cameron Alistair MacGregor, 20, Port Orchard, hit and run; Joshua Andrew Crowder, 18, Port Orchard, driving under the influence and reckless endangerment; Jonathan Russel Wark, 37, Port Orchard, two counts of harassment (felony)-threat to kill; Richard H. Langford III, 20, Port Orchard, second-degree burglary; Jeremy Douglas Harvey, 25, Port Orchard, possession of heroin; Nathan Christopher Dorsey, 34, Port Orchard, unlawful imprisonment; Kerrance C. Burden Jr., 20, Port Orchard, distribution of controlled substance to person under age 18 and possession of a controlled substance with intent to manufacture or deliver.

Nov. 5: Jose Enrique Avila, 30, Port Orchard, obstructing a law enforcement officer; Zakery Michael Bonds, 28, Belfair, possession of meth and attempting to elude pursuing police vehicle.
