Discussion on human trafficking Nov. 20 set in Poulsbo

The League of Women Voters is hosting a box lunch and discussion on the topic of human trafficking on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Poulsbo City Hall Council Chamber, 200 NE Moe St.

POULSBO — The League of Women Voters is hosting a box lunch and discussion on the topic of human trafficking on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Poulsbo City Hall Council Chamber, 200 NE Moe St.

The event is part of the League of Women Voters’ Community Education Program and the public is invited.

The two guest speakers will be Russell D. Hauge, Kitsap County prosecutor and Rosie Ludlow, director of community engagement and co- founder of Scarlet Road. Scarlet Road is a faith-based, non-profit organization serving women and girls who needs support leaving the sex industry. They provide services throughout the Kitsap County area.

A brief overview is planned on what human trafficking is and the individual and community impact that exploitation has on our nation and in Kitsap County. There will also be discussion on identifying and serving girls involved in exploitation, and the safe strategies and barriers to exiting this devastating ordeal.

The optional box lunch will cost $13. Admission is free if no lunch is requested. RSVP by Wednesday, Nov. 13, to order the box lunch which is a chicken or vegetable wrap with chips, bottled water, and a homemade cookie. The event will be catered by The Coffee Oasis.
