Bail was set at $25,000.

• An 18-year-old Bremerton man was charged with retail theft with extenuating circumstances in the third degree. The man allegedly used a knife to remove a watch from its package at Kohl’s department store and then went into a store bathroom for a long time Feb. 11. An employee called the sheriff’s office. A deputy approached the man and told him not to leave the store, but the man resisted. The man said he stole the watch because he needed items to sell to buy food. He admitted to other recent thefts at various locations as well. Bail was set at $30,000.

According to court documents, the man was driving a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck in an erratic manner southbound on SR3 around 7:25 p.m. The man forced another motorist off the road, but police caught up with the man at a plumbing business on Chico way. The man was unsteady on his feet and smelled of alcohol. The man told police he had not been involved in a crash, then failed a field sobriety test and was arrested. His BAC was .192. He cursed the Washington State Patrol trooper who arrested him and repeatedly described the situation as “whack.” The man had a prior DUI and was booked without bail.
