County to open Olympic View Transfer Station on Memorial Day

Kitsap County has released its Memorial Day schedules for waste facilities, with the Olympic View Transfer Station remaining open on Monday, May 25, while Silverdale and Hansville will be closed.

Holiday weekends tend to be the busiest times, so customers should expect longer wait times than normal. Typically, the heaviest use is between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The county may unexpectedly close the scrap metal containers at Olympic View and Silverdale in the days immediately before and after a holiday. Please do not leave scrap metal on the ground, if that is the case.

The STYRO-Roundup set for July 25 as been postponed by the county’s solid waste division. If you are able, store your polystyrene foam (commonly referred to as styrofoam) for the next roundup in December. If you cannot, put the foam in the trash and make sure it is bagged so the beads do not become litter.
