SILVERDALE — The Trails at Silverdale is continuing to grow, and this time, they’re rising a little, as well. Or at least, the dough is.
Corner Bakery is opening its second Washington location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1. The Silverdale Chamber of Commerce will be there to help celebrate the grand opening. The first 100 customers will receive free coffee for a year. Free breakfasts for a year will also be available through weekly drawings.
Corner Bakery features a menu that includes “innovative, flavorful offerings and delicious desserts,” according to a press release. It will sell specialty breads, hot breakfasts, seasonal soups, freshly baked sweets and made-to-order sandwiches, panini and pastas. Signature menu items include Chicken Pomodori Panini, the Trio Salad and Cinnamon Crème Cake.
“Corner Bakery is thrilled to open at the Trails at Silverdale,” said Jayson Levich, Corner Bakery’s vice president of operations in Seattle. “We’re excited to join the well-established Kitsap trade area and become a part of the local community for the first time.”
The bakery will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily at the Trails, located at the main intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 303.
Corner Bakery has a succesful location in the Southcenter Mall in Tukwila, Washington. They plan to open a third Washington location in Issaquah in the fall of this year, and about 16 locations in the Northwest over the next five years, according to a Corner Bakery press release.
The bakery originated in 1991 with artisan breads and desserts hand-made using only fresh ingredients. There are now 194 locations in 25 states and Washington, D.C. According to the website (www.cornerbakerycafe.com), Corner Bakery is a “casual neighborhood gathering place where people can relax, meet up with friends and enjoy great food anytime of day.”
It was founded by Chicago’s Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, but changed hands a few times. In 2011, Roark Capital Group purchased the franchise, which is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
“Inspired by great fresh ingredients, our small neighborhood bakery on a corner in downtown Chicago began creating artisan breads and freshly baked sweets,” their website states. “And upon a little success, neighbors began to ask us for sandwiches made with that fabulous bread, followed by homemade soups and salads, and even made-to-order scramblers. Our guests’ requests continued to inspire us as our bakery’s menu and business grew.
“Today, we continue to fulfill the needs and desires of our neighbors with a menu of ingredient-inspired, prepared-to-order food. When you visit our cafe, you’ll see real kitchens in place of assembly lines. You’ll hear the chopping of over 40 types of fresh herbs, fruits and vegetables, and the sizzle of our real panini grill. You’ll see the stove’s open flame and feel the warmth from our ovens working all day long.
“They’re the traditions we established years ago that we still passionately follow today.”
