CKSD school board member resigns, citing health concerns

Central Kitsap School District board Director Rob MacDermid of District 2 has resigned.

The announcement was made Feb. 8. MacDermid, in an email to Kitsap Daily News, said he consulted with former board director and friend Bruce Richards before deciding to step down. “I have been dealing with some serious health challenges,” he said. “I concluded that resigning now was in the best interest of the district.”

This marks the second time in two years that a board member has resigned mid-school year. Jeanie Schulze of District 4 cited the same concerns in her resignation last March.

District 5 Director Eric Greene said the board will likely give further clarification Feb. 22. “I appreciate Mr. MacDermid’s service, and we’ll move forward and continue with the business of the district,” he said.

MacDermid’s term was set to expire at the end of 2023. The board is expected to begin the search for a replacement in coming months.
