MUSIC FESTIVAL: The inaugural Greater Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce Americana Music Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Raab Park. The free event will benefit the chamber and Eli’s Place. Info: (360) 779-4848.

HOME TOUR: An historic home tour in Port Gamble will be from noon to 4 p.m. today by Kitsap Arts and Crafts to raise money for art scholarships. The cost is $12, which covers admission to six private homes and the Port Gamble museum. Tickets are available next to the General Store on the day of the event. HEBREW SCHOOL: Hebrew school classes for children of all ages are set to begin at Congregation Kol Shalom Sept. 15. All families wishing their children to have a Jewish education are welcome to attend. Info: Beth Schoenberg, Temple administrator, at (206) 842-9010 or admin@kolshalom.net.

GRIEF SUPPORT: A group is forming for those who may have recently lost a parent or loved one. The group begins at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 at Martha & Mary at 1960 Front Street NE and continues for nine successive Tuesdays. The meetings last approximately 90 minutes, are free, and open to the community. Pre-registration at (360) 394-4020 is required. There is a charge of $25 for two program workbooks.

NK REPUBLICAN WOMEN: The North Kitsap Republican Women will host its monthly meeting on Sept. 16 at the Miller Bay Fire Station near Kingston. The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m. Dr. Sharon Quick will speak about Initiative 1000. For more information contact Brenda Petrick at (360) 871-2200.

LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS: An education focused forum for the 23rd Legislative District senator and representative candidates will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at the North Kitsap Community Auditorium.

FEEDING NORTH KITSAP: A community discussion will be from 7-9 p.m. Sept. 18 at Stillwaters Environmental Center. Join a discussion on local food. Social, economic, and environmental benefits of local food production and consumption will be discussed. Explore current efforts and future opportunities for developing the local food economy of North Kitsap. Cost: $5 suggested donation.

DOCENT CLASS: The Poulsbo Marine Science Center will host a training class for new volunteers from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 27. RUMMAGE SALE: The Poulsbo Sons of Norway annual rummage sale will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is welcome.

ROTARY ROSE SALE: Poulsbo Rotary is offering one dozen long-stemmed roses for the price of $20. Purchase funds will go to Eli’s Place, scholarships, food for those in-need, and other significant community projects. The last day to order is Sept. 21. The roses will be delivered in mid October. STILLWATERS’ USED BOOK SALE: Sept. 5 – 28 marks the annual Stillwaters used book sale at 26059 Barber Cut Off Road in Kingston. There will be 15,000 – 20,000 books, new and used, covering all subjects, fiction and non-fiction, almost all priced $1 or less. Donations of new and used books are needed and accepted any time. All proceeds from the sale will support environmental education. Info: (360) 297-2876.

FISH PARK: The monthly work parties at Poulsbo’s Fish Park will be the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning Sept. 20. The public is welcome to join in to help this nature park grow into an urban experience for all to enjoy. A variety of tasks will be available each month, including eradicating noxious weeds, blackberry removal, park clean up. Info: (360) 779-9898.
