A 22-year-old Bremerton man has been charged with failure to register as a sex offender in Kitsap County District Court.

Jason Earl Dengler, formerly of the 1200 block of 5th Street in Bremerton, was convicted in July 2008 in Mason County Juvenile Court for two counts of child molestation. Those convictions require him to register.

According to court records, Dengler got out of the Kitsap County Jail on Feb. 16 and completed paperwork advising that he would be returning to the address on 5th Street. But a Department of Corrections community custody officer notified the sheriff’s office six days later that Dengler had not returned to the residence.

Further investigation revealed that the last time he was actually there was on Feb. 14 and from that date forward his whereabouts were unknown to law enforcement. The maximum penalty for failing to register as a sex offender is five years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine.
