Bellringer nears $2,000 milestone

POULSBO — Councilman Ed Stern and a host of others answered the Bellringer call as donations came in like snowflakes Thursday afternoon. By 3 p.m. more than $750 had been given as Bellringer appears to be gaining momentum toward its $30,000 goal for the 2005 campaign. Stern topped the Jaegers’ donation of $201 by a single dollar and several other donors stepped up with $100 gifts of their own.

With snow falling, Christmas is definitely in the air, but Bellringer still has a long way to go before it reaches its lofty goal.

Mike’s Car Wash in Poulsbo remains in the giving spirit as owner Mike Brooks is once again donating a portion of his proceeds during this month to give the fund a boost. Donations can also be dropped off at the car wash and Mike’s also accepts credit cards for those wishing to make donations that way.

Bellringer, a part of the Raab Foundation, which is administered by the Poulsbo Noon Lions Club, provides one-time assistance of food, help with bills, emergency transportation and Christmas food baskets through North Kitsap Fishline.

Donations to the fund can be dropped off at the Kitsap Bank branch in Poulsbo or the North Kitsap Herald, 18887 State Route 305, Suite 700. Donations can also be mailed to Bellringer Fund, P.O. Box 1244, Poulsbo, WA 98370.

The Herald is once again sponsoring its Holiday Toy Box Drive, accepting new, unwrapped presents for local children. Toys will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday through Dec. 12 at the office.
