That must have been a vicious raccoon

A 22-year-old Suquamish man was arrested Sept. 18 for reckless endangerment from shooting his rifle to scare raccoons attacking his dog.

Deputies were dispatched to the house on Fir Street in Suquamish after neighbors overheard yelling between a man and woman then seven “machine gun” shots fired in succession.

The man told deputies he was trying to protect his pit-bull terrier, which was outside on the rear deck.

The man lives in a dense neighborhood. When questioned about the verbal argument with a woman he said he was on the phone fighting with his mother-in-law.

The man was arrested and his two rifles were confiscated. His bail was set at $5,000.

Fire destroys garage

A fire, which destroyed a garage and left minimal damage to a Poulsbo home Sept. 20, was determined to have been set on purpose.

When Poulsbo Fire crews arrived to the scene, the home was unoccupied and appeared to be undergoing renovation.

The garage was a total loss. Kitsap County Fire Marshal and Kitsap County Sheriff are asking people with information about any suspicious activity between 2:30-3 a.m. Saturday south of the Hood Canal Bridge to call Deputy Craig Hanson at (360) 337-7183.
