57th year of Kitsap drag racing

The Handlers’ Racing Association, and Bremerton Raceway, is bringing drag racing to Kitsap County for the 57th consecutive year.

BREMERTON — The Handlers’ Racing Association, and Bremerton Raceway, is bringing drag racing to Kitsap County for the 57th consecutive year.

Races take place on the inactive runway of Bremerton National Airport.

On April 8, gates open at 3 p.m. for Street Legals, 100 mph Club Qualifier, Test & Tune for all vehicles, street-style grudge matches and Junior Street licensing. Racing starts at 4 p.m. and continues until dusk; gates close at 9 p.m.

Tech cards are $25 for car and driver. General admission is $5; children 5 and younger get in for free. Purchase your Bremerton Raceway number for $10 in the Pro Shop at the base of the tower; ask about the 100 MPH Club and the Junior Street Program.

April 9 is the date for Summit E.T. Series No. 3 and Summit Junior Dragsters Series No. 3, which is also the Junior Land of the Leaders Challenge and Test & Tune. Also scheduled: Car Club Challenge Race No. 2, Nostalgia Hot Rod Series No. 2, and the Northwest Heads Up Association and Northwest Nostalgia Tour qualifiers. The E.T. Finals are in Mission, B.C. this year; sign up in the Pro Shop and start accumulating points. Tech cards are $45 for Sportsman, Motorcycle, Car Club Challenge, Nostalgia Hot Rod and Test & Tune; $55 for Pro; $60 for Super Pro; $25 for High School; and $35 for Junior Dragsters and Junior Street. Gates open at 8 a.m., racing starts at 9 a.m., gates close at 8 p.m.

On April 11, gates open at 8 a.m. for the Summit E.T. Series No. 4 which is also the Land of the Leaders Challenge No. 1, Summit Junior Dragsters Series No. 4, Northwest Head Up Meet No. 1, Northwest Nostalgia Tour Race No. 1, and Test & Tune for all vehicles. Tech cards are $45 for Sportsman and Motorcycle, $55 for Pro, $60 for Super Pro, $25 for High School and $35 for Junior Dragsters and Junior Street. General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for active duty military, $5 for children 6-12, and free for children 5 and younger. Gates open at 8 a.m., racing starts at 9 a.m..
