PORT ORCHARD

WORLD WAR II-ERA THROWBACK at Moondogs, Too, 714 Bay St. in Port Orchard

Moondogs is doing it up a little different then they ever have, and a little different than anywhere else in the county, this New Year’s Eve.

The entire bar will be retro-fitted to the days of the U.S. soldiers’/sailors’ return from WWII, complete with all the 40’s-era pomp and circumstance, a swing-style big band combo, optional period dress and USO dance cards for the ladies.

(For those whippersnappers who might not know what a dance card is, it’s a docket for a woman to record with whom she dances on the evening.)

In Moondogs’ philanthropic style, each dance will cost fellows $1 with total proceeds from all dances on the evening being donated to the local Retsil Veteran’s Center Recreation Program.

The party starts with dinner at 6 p.m. on through the midnight toast and dancing until 2 a.m. No cover.

Port Orchard pianist Dick Coolen will lead the swing combo.
