Jazz is for lovers.
There’s an undeniably affectionate quality to the soft combination of slightly syncopated drums and a sweetly swinging piano. Especially when its set in a dim-lit, cozy club and taken in over a glass of wine and a chocolate desert.
Because of this long-standing and incredibly romantic phenomena, it seems, jazz cats get all the chicks.
Luckily for the hopeless romantics of Kitsap, this Valentine’s Day at The Jazz House — Bremerton’s home for live jazz, 322 Pacific Ave. — pianist Tedd McKeever and percussionist Charlie Gaines are going to be sharing the wealth. They’ll be providing the soundtrack for a new Valentine’s Singles’ Night, starting at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Jazz House. Space is limited, RSVP at (360) 373-2006 or e-mail info@jazzhousedesign.com.
The event comes at a $25 admission price — live music, two drinks, hors d’ourves and dessert included, Jazz House proprietor Steve Pyle said.
It’s an evening for “anyone interested in hanging out and doing something a little classy that night … no pressure,” he added.
And of course, for anyone looking for love on Valentine’s, albeit not the best time.
The idea came from a single late-40’s-aged friend of the Jazz House, Pyle said, who had grown tired of searching for Mr. Right in the local bar scene to no avail.
Since the Jazz House has been providing a classy, more sophisticated (yet still affordable) environment since last summer when Pyle and business partner Ed Munoz turned the basement of their advertising firm into a jazz club, it seems a ripe ground for romance this Valentine’s.
LOOKING FOR LOVE IN THE NORTH END
Poulsbo’s MorMor Bistro will also be mixing a cocktail of live jazz and romance as it hosts the Jordan Gillman Trio for its Valentine’s celebration.
Reservations will be taken at 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $50 per person (plus tax and gratuity) for dinner featuring a three-course meal, a glass of sparkling wine and capped off with a “decadent chocolate sampler” Nesby described.
The bistro and bar will also be featuring a “Lover’s Lunch” menu on Feb. 14, off of which, $25 per person will cover a glass of sparkling wine, an appetizer, entree and desert. Reservations, once again, are suggested.
