Our monthly theme for March is “Celebrate Washington State.” Please come and enjoy one of the programs that we have planned for this purpose.

Local author and outdoorsman, Seabury Blair, will be speaking on hiking in Western Washington on March 3 at 6:30 p.m. We are still working on a venue for this exciting event, so please call the library for more information. Blair’s new book is called “Creaky Knees Guide to the Best Easy Hikes in Washington.” He always has a unique and entertaining tale to tell and may bring some of his wonderful photographs.

We will be showing “The Egg and I,” which is set in Washington State, on Wednesday, March 11, at 1 p.m., downstairs in the Apple Tree room.

Our third event celebrating Washington State is a program on the Hood Canal Bridge Project. It will be on Monday, March 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Apple Tree room, downstairs in the Community Center.

The library will be compiling book lists of fiction, romances, and mysteries that are set in Washington, so you will be able to pick your favorite title from the library’s collection.

Other activities at your library are the pajama story times on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m., March 3 and 10. We will have preschool story times on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. on March 4 and 11.

The Kingston Library book group is currently reading “Interred with Their Bones” by Jennifer Lee Carrell. This first novel was called, “a feverishly paced action adventure,” by the New York Times. Pick up your copy and join the discussion on Wednesday, March 4, at 10:30 a.m. downstairs in the Indianola room.

Kingston Friends of the Library will be meeting on Tuesday, March 10, at 10:00 a.m. We are hoping to have the director of the Kitsap Regional Library as a guest and will also be discussing plans for the April 18 book sale.

Several people have expressed an interest in starting a second book group at the library. We are considering Monday evenings with a focus on the classics. Please let us know if this sounds like something that you might find intriguing?

Spring is just around the corner and we have many gardening books. Come on over and check it out!
