Pete DeBoer deserves thanks

It’s time that someone said publicly: Thank you, Pete, for a job well done.

After reading your article concerning Pete DeBoer (“DeBoer says he won’t seek third term on Kingston Port Commission,” page 2, May Kingston Community News), I feel the need to speak in his defense.

As a resident of almost 20 years in Kingston, I am acutely aware of his diligent service to this town. His private life should be considered private and has no bearing on his many civic contributions.

There is no one who has worked harder with more tenacity on behalf of Kingston, and all of us who live here, than Pete DeBoer. He has championed more causes than we can count and has been our most vocal cheerleader, from ferry boats to economic development and everything in between. He has dedicated years of volunteer service to this little town that he loves.

It’s time that someone said publicly: Thank you, Pete, for a job well done.
