Locals lost for a good cause | Letters

The Weight Watchers staff in North Kitsap would like to congratulate all of our local members who took part in our 3rd annual Lose for Good campaign. We are so proud of each and every one of you who worked hard to lose weight during this campaign and also give back to your community. We are so happy to work with you all!

The Lose For Good campaign provides a chance for folks to adopt a healthier lifestyle, reduce their weight and help someone in need. Some members have brought in food donations equivalent to their weight loss so they can make sure their loss is someone else’s gain. This is our third year and it’s gotten bigger and more successful each year. Since the campaign’s inception, Weight Watchers members have lost 8 million pounds during the campaign, while Weight Watchers staff voluntarily organized 5,300 local food drives resulting in a donation of about 2.5 million pounds of food to food banks across the country. This year in Kingston, a married couple donated together to represent the total that they had lost on the program. The Kingston members lost about 100 pounds and donated 123 pounds of food to ShareNet food Bank. The Poulsbo group lost 222.8 pounds and donated 303 pounds of food to Fishline Food Bank. Bainbridge Island members lost 335.1 pounds and donated 92 to Helpline House.

Again, thank you for your donations and hard work. It is a pleasure and inspiration to work with all of you!

Naomi Nichols and Jennifer Blackwood,

Weight Watchers meeting leaders, Poulsbo, Kingston and Bainbridge
