Learn the truth, and then cast your ballot

I look back to the early 1980s when I would go vote, not knowing anything much about the candidates or what they stood for.

I look back to the early 1980s when I would go vote, not knowing anything much about the candidates or what they stood for. I would vote for name recognition or sometimes the candidate who made his or her lies more believable.

Now, I vote for whoever I think is going to look out for the hard-working people and, hopefully, the candidate that hasn’t been bribed as much by Wall Street, the bankers and the rich. Please don’t let yourselves believe the lies. It isn’t that difficult to find the true facts. Some people I know don’t care about the truth, they vote for whatever their political birthright is.   They don’t even care what the truth is, but that is not what democracy is all about. I write letters to the editor not to stir up people, but to get the truth out there.

I now feel ashamed of the way I voted back then and I know I shouldn’t have voted at all.
