Indianola: IBIC didn’t overstep its bounds, thank you

Having read Mr Earle Willey’s letter to the editor in two local newspapers, I would like to respond in my dual role as a newly elected member of the Indianola Beach Improvement Club and as a volunteer rental agent for the IBIC Clubhouse.

In criticizing closure of Indianola Road on July 18, Mr Willey avers, “the club oversteps its bounds when closing and, in effect, renting out the public right-of-way.”

In fact, the IBIC did not close the road, nor did we “rent out” the road for a private event. The event host applied for, and was duly issued, a permit from Kitsap County for the road closure; in addition, the county provided the necessary barricades and detour signs.
