In late 2025, Jenny Newell, an Okanagan Spirits brand ambassador, was diagnosed with High-Grade Glioma, which is an aggressive and terminal form of brain cancer.
After undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, she was given a year to live.
The Kelowna community has since united to raise funds for Newell, with a raffle fundraiser being hosted at the Flip Flops and Hops Eatery at 1974 Kane Road #300.
It will be hosted all day on Saturday, Jan. 24.
The raffle consists of prizes valued at $5,600, all donated by local businesses and curated into 11 gift baskets.
The prizes include “golf, foodie experiences, beer, wellness, fashion, and unforgettable nights out.”
Additionally, more than$2,000 worth of beer, wine, and cider have been donated for the event.
“Each prize represents a local business stepping up and saying, ‘we’ve got you.’,” read the restaurant’s Facebook post.
All proceeds raised from raffles, 50/50 tickets and drinks will go into supporting Newell.
