STAT Medical keeping patients on the go

STAT Medical moved to Lebo Boulevard in East Bremerton last fall and branch manager Patrice Holland could not be happier.

STAT Medical, formerly located on Wheaton Way, now carries all sorts of home medical equipment ranging from wheelchairs to specialty beds to access ramps.

“We used to be on Wheaton Way where we did strictly respiratory,” Holland said. “Now we’re down here doing everything.”

Holland said STAT Medical moved to Lebo Boulevard across from Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton “to expand and offer more products for the medical community.”

STAT Medical also offers nurses’ supplies and respiratory services including oxygen systems and CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) masks. There are eight other oxygen and CPAP providers in the area and manufacturers said that STAT Medical offers the best selection of products, according to Holland.

STAT Medical is a Washington-owned company with eight locations throughout the state.

“Being that we’re smaller it gives us more flexibility in what we can offer,” Holland said.

Holland had a post-mastectomy business for eight years, but recently sold it to STAT Medical.

“There’s a huge need for (post-mastectomy products) over here,” Holland said.

STAT Medical offers Amoena products including breast forms designed to help restore a person’s appearance after breast surgery. Holland and a fellow STAT Medical employee are certified fitters and have a private room in the back of the store to discuss post-mastectomy products with clients.

Holland said some of the equipment offered at STAT Medical is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and perfect for people who like to travel.

“I had a patient go to Europe for a month and he never would have been able to do that (without STAT Medical’s equipment),” Holland said. “I love being able to keep people active and doing things they wouldn’t normally do.”

Holland said helping people stay mobile, active and comfortable is the best part about her job.

“It’s very rewarding. That’s probably the best part about it,” Holland said with a smile.

STAT Medical offers insurance billing on their top-of-the-line home medical equipment. Holland said business at the Lebo Boulevard location next to Kitsap Bank has been good so far and anticipates the store’s clientele base will continue to grow.

“We’re still in the process of getting the word out,” she said. “Since we opened up the store it’s been a little tough for me to get out and spread the word.”
