Allstate Insurance Company recognized agent Robert Scharf of Silverdale for his 15 years of service at Allstate.

As part of the Allstate Milestone Achievement program, Allstate agents receive a plaque of recognition honoring their contributions and service of five years or more. Scharf is one of more than 700 Allstate agents throughout the Northwest region. His agency sells auto, property, commercial and life insurance.

Outback Steakhouse celebrates 20 years

Kitsap Bank announces

scholarships

Kitsap Bank recently announced that two scholarships have been endowed to commemorate the bank’s 100th anniversary. The scholarships are for Olympic College and the University of Washington School of Business.

The Helen Langer Smith and Dr. Meredith Smith Endowed Scholarship for Business will provide financial assistance to undergraduate students attending the University of Washington’s Michael G. Foster School of Business. To be considered for the scholarship, students must be from Kitsap, Mason, Jefferson or Clallam counties or from the Gig Harbor area. Ashley Gardens caregiver

nominated

for award

Crystal Van Horn, a caregiver at Ashley Gardens of Bremerton, was nominated for the Excellence in Caregiving award by the Western and Central Washington State Alzheimer’s Association.

Van Horn has worked at Ashley Gardens of Bremerton, an Alzheimer’s and dementia care community, since December 2005 and was nominated for the award by the family members of those she cares for.

Nominations, which were accepted in the form of a letter to the association from the family members, were open to certified nursing assistants, home care aids, lay caregivers and activity specialists who work in a home, residential or day care setting. Van Horn will discover if she has been awarded the Excellence distinction at the 23rd Annual Alzheimer’s Conference on April 5 in Seattle.

Jan Tezak elected to KMHS Board

of Directors

Jan Tezak was recently elected to the Kitsap Mental Health Services Board of Directors. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of North Dakota and her master of nursing degree, specializing in psychosocial nursing, from the University of Washington. She is currently employed as a tenured nursing faculty member at Olympic College.
