Aleta Gibson spent 10 months searching for the perfect location for her business.

Once she looked at the Cavalon buildings on Myhre Road in Silverdale, she knew she wanted to open a gym there.

Gibson opened Snap Fitness earlier this month and already more than 100 people joined the gym.

“It’s been fantastic,” Gibson said. “Most clubs sign up 100 contracts in the first month but we’re well over that.”

After searching and searching for the right business opportunity, Gibson found Snap Fitness and knew it was the perfect match for her.

“When I looked at it it really fit in with what I wanted to do,” Gibson said. “I have a lot of rental properties and I really decided I wasn’t interested in pushing papers around which is essentially what I was doing.”

Gibson hired people to handle her rental properties and began preparing to open Snap Fitness.

Snap Fitness is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It features state-of-the-art cardio and weight equipment. The facility also includes a stand-up tanning bed.

Snap Fitness currently has one personal trainer, but Gibson is looking to hire another in the near future.

“We want to give people as much or as little help as they need to achieve the goals they want to achieve,” she said.

The staff members at Snap Fitness are readily available to teach gym patrons how to use the equipment. Gibson said Snap Fitness may be smaller than other gyms, but has the same top-notch equipment and the experienced staff members to help patrons when needed.

“We make sure that people know what they’re doing so they’re not asking questions,” Gibson said. “You get a lot more bang for your buck with Snap Fitness as compared to other gyms and franchises.”

Snap Fitness members can use their access card to unlock the gym’s door during non-staffed hours. The entire building is under surveillance, so people can feel safe even when working out alone at 2 a.m.

Snap Fitness access cards can be used at other gym locations, like Snap Fitness in East Bremerton or other locations across the country.

“They can access clubs all across the country and Canada which is a nice feature if you’re traveling,” Gibson said.

Snap Fitness has a balcony area that may be used to do yoga. The Global Bean Coffee Traders, which is located next door to Snap Fitness, may have musicians play tunes on the balcony.

Gibson met Donna Krech, creator of Thin and Healthy Total Solutions, at a conference in Los Angeles and decided she wanted to open the fitness and weight loss business in Silverdale.

“This is something that people really, really need,” Gibson said. “I’m really excited about offering that for folks.”

Thin and Healthy Total Solutions is focused on weight loss but not deprivation, according to Gibson. Clients meet with a consultant twice a week to discuss what motivates them, metabolic retraining and one-on-one coaching for life success. Oprah Winfrey’s Oxygen Network called Thin and Healthy Total Solutions “the best kept weight loss secret,” according to Gibson.

Thin and Healthy Total Solutions also will be located in the Cavalon building and should be open in a few months.

“It helps people figure out what motivates them,” Gibson said. “It’s bigger than just diet and exercise.”

Snap Fitness will host a grand opening celebration from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10, and the public is invited to attend. Gibson said she hopes to open a Snap Fitness in Poulsbo in the near future.
