Poulsbo Farmers Market gets support from Mor Mor Bistro

The Poulsbo Farmers Market will receive 5 percent of all revenue generated from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mor Mor Bistro & Bar every Wednesday in June through a unique community partnership program called Mor For a Difference.

The Mor For a Difference program supports community-based, non-profits and charitable organizations through the donation of 5 percent of lunch sales every Wednesday for an entire month.

Previous Mor For a Difference recipients include the Kathleen Sutton Fund and the North Kitsap Optimist Club. In addition to the Poulsbo Farmers Market, upcoming recipients include the Marine Science Center, which will be the featured organization in July.

KCU board chooses Thomas

The Kitsap Credit Union Board of Directors recently elected Terry Thomas as the new supervisory committee chair.

The board of directors and supervisory committee is governed by voluntary leadership that represents the interests and values of Kitsap Credit Union members.

Thomas completed his bachelor’s degree in business administration from City University in 1980. After 37 years of service Thomas retired from a rewarding professional career in civil service at the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor. He is now a project manager at Paladin Data Systems in Poulsbo.

“I want to contribute to the community that I have grown to admire. I believe strongly in the 16 branch offices,” Thomas said.

Kingston Kiwanis to host berry sale

It is that time of the year again for the Annual Greater Kingston Kiwanis Club Berry Sale.

Every year the club sells fresh Skagit Valley Food Alliance Certified berries packed in their juice with no added sugar.

The funds raised by the club support the community with funding to the North Kitsap Boys and Girls Club, funding two $2,500 scholarships for graduating high school seniors, children’s Halloween and Christmas parties in Kingston plus many other local community service projects.

All the money earned is spent in the North Kitsap area to support youth and seniors.

The berries are picked up at American Marine Bank in Kingston. Windermere Real Estate and American Marine Bank of Kingston will be serving free, fresh berry shortcake during the pickup hours. Order forms can be printed out online at http://www.windermerekingston.com/berries.

Poulsbo massage therapist contributes to textbook

Aquatic therapy for the treatment of pain is the subject of a chapter written by Doug Kinnaird, LMP, of Poulsbo, for a new textbook, “Integrative Pain Medicine: The Science and Practice of Complementary Medicine in Pain Management.” The book, which Andrew Weil, MD, describes as “the definitive guide to integrative pain management,” was edited by Harvard Medical School faculty members Joseph F Audette, MD, and Allison Bailey, MD, and published by Humana Press.

Kinnaird who practices therapeutic massage at Bainbridge Athletic Club, said his chapter discusses the history of therapeutic use of water and a list of resources for practitioners and patients, plus a bibliography compiled by his collaborator Bruce E Becker, MD.
