Wagner elected to national professional board

Dr. Michael Wagner, of Upper Cervical Center of America in Silverdale, has been elected to serve as one of six chiropractors in the Society of Chiropractic Orthospinology. The society is a nonprofit educational organization which meets throughout the year to establish policy and guidelines for the specialized practice within the chiropractic field.

Wagner graduated with honors from Life University in Marietta, Ga. in 1998. He was a member and president of the Student Society of Orthospinology and studied the procedure in school. He remains involved with the Society of Chiropractic Orthospinology and has attended many educational seminars.

United Moving & Storage earns award

United Moving & Storage, a local agent for United Van Lines, recently earned a 2008 Safe Driving and Excellent Performance award from United Van Lines for accumulating the best safe driving and overall performance records. Rick Pfaff won the award.

The safe driving and excellent performance recognition is based on the following criteria: qualified in United service for the entire period of Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2008 and operating a minimum of 40,000 miles; maintaining a preventable accident-free record for the year and keeping all operating qualifications up-to-date; operating without any moving traffic citations; no out-of-serivce deficiencies found at roadside safety inspections; no unsafe driving complaints maintaining a perfect Safety Performance Rating score; maintaining a cargo claim liability of 1 percent or below and an exceptional on-time service pickup/delivery.

Wilson joins Home Instead Senior Care

Control Contractors opens Silverdale office

Control Contractors, Inc. of Seattle recently announced the further expansion of branch offices to include Silverdale. Control Contractors has offices in Alaska, Oregon, Texas and Washington and works on HVAC systems, lighting and mechanical systems to improve efficiency and comfort in existing buildings and new construction. Olive Garden manager trains in Italy

Silverdale Olive Garden General Manager Daniel Banales recently traveled to Italy to participate in company-sponsored training where he and 12 other managers spent a week learning about Italian culture and cuisine and enhancing their culinary skills at Olive Garden’s Culinary Institute of Tuscany.

Each year, Olive Garden selects about 100 managers to travel to Italy as part of the restaurant’s ongoing culinary training program. Banales worked under the direction of Olive Garden executive chefs during his trip. He also toured Olive Garden’s Riserva di Fizzanao restaurant and the Rocca delle Macie winery. He also did some sightseeing.

Rieland awarded Economic Development Champion Award

Pacific Northwest Title CEO and President Chris Rieland received the Economic Development Champion Award in March from the Kitsap Economic Development Alliance “for instinctive creativity, enthusiasm and unwavering commitment to Kitsap County economic vitality,” according to a Pacific Northwest Title news release.

In 2004, Rieland was named a board member to the then Economic Development Council for her dedication, knowledge and leadership in the community. She served as chair for the 2007-08 term.

Gurnsey joins Wave Business Solutions (PHOTO)

Wave Business Solutions, a division of a Kirkland-based cable, internet and phone services company, announced that Billi Jean Gurnsey, formerly of Wave Media Services, has joined Wave’s Business Solutions team. Gurnsey will now work with small- to medium-sized businesses to match their business phone, internet and hospitality TV needs to Wave’s business solutions. Gurnsey also will continue to serve Wave’s local clients’ marketplace advertising needs.

Gurnsey comes from a diverse sales background ranging from retail department store sales and management to newspaper, radio and cable TV advertising sales and management.
