Have a thing for Mustangs — the automotive, not equine variety?

The Port Orchard Waterfront will once again host the annual “Mustangs on the Waterfront” car show on Sunday, July 31.

Gates open to the show at the Kitsap Bank parking lot at 8 a.m. for participating entries. The show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendance is free.

Presented by the Kitsap Mustang Club for the 28th year, the show will feature dozens of Mustangs of every production year — beginning with the first-generation Ford cars initially produced mid-year in 1964. The car’s full production model launch in 1965 was Ford’s most successful since the Model A rolled off Henry Ford’s assembly line in 1928.

Susan Stadshaug, the event’s organizer, said the show will be similar to past shows.

Trophies for first through third places will be awarded in 39 categories. Premier trophy sponsors this year are Canopy World, Karras Consulting and West Hills Ford.

Ten $50 cash prize drawings will be made during the annual raffle, sponsored by Bruce Titus Ford of Port Orchard.

If you’d like to bring your ‘Stang to the show, drive to the downtown Port Orchard location at 8 a.m. July 31 and sign up. Show registration is $20 and is payable at the gate.

Unlike most car shows, this presentation features Mustangs of every stripe.

Stadshaug said the Kitsap Mustang Club is one of the few car clubs in Washington state devoted solely to the legendary Ford model.
