VFW FUNDRAISER: VFW Post 2669 in Port Orchard will host a Chili Cook-off and community auction at 3 p.m. on Sept. 13.
AIR SHOW: Kitsap County radio-controlled airplane enthusiasts will host an air show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 13 at Little Field, on Sunnyslope Road in Port Orchard (one mile north of Lake Flora Road, on the left). The event will feature non-stop flying, static displays, raffles and prizes. Admission is by donation — cash or food — with proceeds to benefit local food banks. LIBRARY FUNDRAISER: The Friends of the Manchester Library will host a book sale fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 13. Proceeds benefit the library. Call 871-7820 for information.

SCHOOL BACKERS: The South Kitsap School Supporters (SKSS) will be holding their first of many meetings on Sept. 16 at McCormick Woods at 5 p.m. At this meeting there will be a presentation from South Kitsap School District budget director Terri Patton in regards to what the levy plan is. School board members will be present as well.

PROPERTY RIGHTS: The Kitsap Alliace of Property Owners (KAPO) will host a presentation by Wendell Cox, a nationally recognized authority on urban “sprawl,” Smart Growth, sustainable development and transportation issues.
