Bremerton police responded to Lions Park July 14 for a confrontation between a pitcher and an umpire in a softball game.

Three Bremerton police units were called to Lions Park in Bremerton July 14 after the pitcher of the West Sound Automotive slow pitch softball team was ejected from the game. In a rage, the man threw the softball at the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) umpire who was walking away, striking the backside of his body with the ball.

After striking the umpire, the player started to go after the umpire but players from both teams stopped him. The umpire canceled the game between West Sound Automotive and Casey Bail Bonds/JL Homes and waited for police to show up before allowing the next game to start. Police found the pitcher in the parking lot of Lions Park and the man was taken into custody.
