Miss Kingston pageant will crown new queen

Miss Kingston 2006-2007 Paige Woodside ends her reign this month when she turns the crown over to another talented young woman.

The Miss Kingston Pageant takes place at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 at Kingston Middle School, 900 West Kingston Road.

Tickets are available from contestants, at the door and at Terhune Homes in Poulsbo.

Here are this year’s contestants.

Piper Sellers, 16, will be a senior at North Kitsap High School. She is the daughter of Michael and Tamra. Her favorite subject is history. She has received an award as the 2007 U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American. During her free time she enjoys lacrosse, running and snowboarding. Piper is hoping to attend the University of Southern California to major in history and a minor in education.

Platform: Global warming awareness.

Chloe Stamper, 16, will be a sophomore at Kingston High School. She is the daughter of Vince and Carrie. Her favorite subjects are ones that let her express her creative side such as English, art and recording arts. She has received awards in varsity girls’ track and varsity girls’ swim team. During her free time she enjoys play guitar, cross-country running, track, drawing, painting, biking, writing and photography. Chloe hopes to attend Parsons in New York to major in fashion design and marketing.

Platform: Girls uniting for positive change.

Samantha Stricklin, 15, will be a sophomore at Kingston High School. She is the daughter of Wes and Susie. Her favorite subject is English, and she enjoys reading different authors. She has received an award for tutoring at Suquamish Elementary School. During her free time enjoys playing the saxophone, writing poetry and reading. Samantha is hoping to attend Idaho State University and major in literature.

Platform: Organize a club for the beautification of Kingston.

Taylor Wall, 16, will be a sophomore at Kingston High School. She is the daughter of Mike and Brenda. Her favorite subject is English. She is the co-captain of the Puget Sound Elite Select Basketball team. During her free time enjoys singing, writing and playing basketball. Taylor hopes to attend the University of Washington and major in business.

Platform: Breast cancer awareness.
