The Port of Kingston Board of Commissioners got spiffed up and made a trip to Governor Chris Gregoire’s office March 17 to witness her signing into law House Bill 2730, which gives the port the authority to operate a ferry system and requires Washingston State Ferries to collaborate with them for terminal operations at WSF existing terminal facilities. Pictured above, standing behind Governor Gregoire as she signs the bill, are Port of Kingston Commissioners Pete DeBoer and Tom Coultas, Port of Kingston Manager Mike Bookey, Port of Kingston Commissioner Captain Marc Bissionnette, Sarah Miller (Christine Rolfes’ legislative assistant) and 23rd District Representative Christine Rolfes, co-sponsor of the bill. For more information, read Pete DeBoer’s “Down at the Port” column.
