Kitsap Bank presented $1,000 donation to the Port Orchard Friends of the Library organization, which will go towards an interior library renovation for a new reading area, which includes new lighting, new shelving, comfortable seating, and roof tile repair.

The check was presented on May 6.

“Kitsap Bank is very pleased to support an organization that serves such a large number of people in our community,” said Dave Jeffcoat, Kitsap Bank vice president/regional manager. “The Port Orchard Library is a huge asset, serving a large cross section of our local population and drawing numerous people to the downtown area.”

The Port Orchard Library and “Friends of the Library” are half way to their goal, and continue their fundraising efforts.

“This check will really help in our fundraising efforts,” commented Kathleen Wilson, Port Orchard branch manager. “It will be extremely helpful in making the library a welcoming environment for our citizens.”

The library is set to close for renovations on Aug. 30, with the work due to be completed by the end of September.

Donations can also be made at any Kitsap Bank location, or at the Port Orchard Library.

The Port Orchard Friends of the Library was established as a nonprofit organization in August of 1980 in order to maintain an association of persons interested in books and libraries; to focus public attention on library services, facilities, and needs; to stimulate the gifts of books, magazines, endowments, and bequests; and to raise funds for equipment, materials, and other needs of the library for which funding is not usually available.
