KINGSTON — One woman was transported to Harrison Medical Center following a two-car collision at Miller Bay and West Kingston roads the afternoon of Nov. 29.

The collision caused significant damage to both cars and slowed traffic along Miller Bay Road.

North Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews went to the intersection of Miller Bay and West Kingston roads at about 1:50 p.m. Thursday. An older VW Jetta, pulling out from West Kingston onto Miller Bay, was apparently struck by an older heavy Suburban-type car pulling a trailer while traveling northbound on Miller Bay. The driver of the Jetta, a 39-year-old Kingston woman, was conscious but trapped inside the crumpled vehicle. Firefighters used hydraulic extrication equipment to open the vehicle’s door and remove her from inside. She was transported by paramedic unit to Harrison Medical Center.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 34-year-old Bremerton man, declined medical treatment. Both drivers said they were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Traffic along Miller Bay Road alternated through one open lane for about 30 minutes while crews worked at the scene. The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
