Epperson takes New Mexico job

Gregg Epperson, executive director of Student Support Services for the North Kitsap School District, announced he will be leaving the district to become the superintendent of the Central Consolidated School District in Shiprock, N.M.

Epperson will begin his new duties June 1. He had worked in the North Kitsap School District for 36 years. Epperson’s position with the NKSD was eliminated earlier this week as part of the district’s efforts to balance the budget for the 2009-10 school year.

Scholarships awarded

North Kitsap Athletic Boosters will award 12 scholarships to North Kitsap High School graduating seniors. Recipients include: Marc Harrington, Kaleb Murray, Evan Tidball, Brad DeShano, Alex Salo, Caleb Stigle, Taylor Chisholm, Krista Vestman, Stephanie Longmate, Eric Beisley, Megan Mitchell and Kyle Erickson.

Scholarships range in amount from $250 to $500, and are awarded on the basis of merit, determined through an application process which includes sports participation, an essay, future plans, letters of recommendation and overall grade point average.
