POULSBO — Gateway Christian Schools has appointed Nick Sweeney as its district administrator.

Sweeney served as principal of King’s West, now Crosspoint Bremerton, from 1996 to 2007 before relocating to Southern California to assume administrative responsibilities for a private Christian school.

Sweeney will oversee daily operations, student services, curriculum, facilities, human resources and community relations for Gateway’s preschool through grade 5 Poulsbo campus and its K-12 Bremerton campus.

“Our school system is growing at a rapid pace,” said Michael Forney, Gateway’s executive director of schools.

“Student enrollment has outpaced prior year at both campuses. This unprecedented growth now requires a tenured, senior administrator within our organization that will afford us the ability to capture this growth and further improve the quality of our educational programs.”

Sweeney has a bachelor’s degree in history from George Fox University in Newberg, Ore. and a master’s degree in educational administration from Seattle University. The Sweeney family resides in Poulsbo.
