Donations of both the green and furry kind filled Fishline’s coffers over the weekend, as $1,350 for the Poulsbo Lions Raab Foundation Bellringer Fund and 85 stuffed bears for North Kitsap Fishline’s Toy Shop came in to stock Christmas shelves and help area residents in need of assistance with bills, food, emergency transportation and Christmas food baskets.
Now $30,575 away from its record $35,000 goal, the Bellringer Fund stands filled to $4,425. The stuffed bears were given, along with a generous $900, by the Teddy Bear Coalition.
This is the fund’s 56th year of supporting local citizens in need, and the effort is a volunteer one, so that almost all of the money raised can be plugged right back into the community.
Donations to this year’s fund can be dropped off at Frontier Bank in Poulsbo, or at the North Kitsap Herald office. Donations can also be mailed to Bellringer Fund, P.O. Box 1244, Poulsbo, WA 98370. The help number of the fund is (360) 697-6087.
Toys for Fishline’s Toy Shop can also be dropped off at the North Kitsap Herald. Each year the Herald staff collects new toys and items for kids of all ages to help make the holidays that much brighter, which is one of the many reasons the Herald is proud to be your community newspaper. Bring new, unwrapped gifts to the office at 18887 Highway 305, Suite 700.
Mike Brooks of Mike’s Car Wash and Detail is also donating $2 of every car washed during the month of December. This is his sixth year donating to Bellringer, in the past five years he’s contributed close to $10,000. Mike’s Car Wash is located at 19774 7th Avenue.
