Bellringer Fund climbs beyond $10,000

The Poulsbo Lions Raab Foundation Bellringer Fund reached even closer to its lofty $35,000 goal this week as $1,025 in North End support rolled in to help the less fortunate. The fund is now $24,639 shy of its target amount, and just two weeks remain in the holiday season.
The Lions Club is optimistic, despite the fund being almost $6,000 short of where it was last year, with a record goal that is $5,000 higher.
“The community surprises me every year and just steps up and just does it,” said fund organizer John Macdonald. “I think it’ll happen. We’re a little bit behind, but not horribly.”
The Lions Club uses the contributions to support those in need with bills, food, emergency transportation and Christmas baskets.
This is the fund’s 56th year, and the effort is a volunteer one, so that almost all of the money raised goes right back into the community.
Mike Brooks of Mike’s Car Wash and Detail is also donating $2 of every car washed in the months of November and December. Mike’s Car Wash is located at 19774 7th Avenue.
Donations to this year’s fund can be dropped off at Frontier Bank in Poulsbo, or at the North Kitsap Herald office. Donations can also be mailed to Bellringer Fund, P.O. Box 1244, Poulsbo, WA 98370. The help number of the fund is (360) 697-6087.
