A Bremerton man is being charged with vehicular homicide after striking a bicyclist on his way home while under the influence of alcohol.
The 36-year-old man was in Kitsap County Superior Court Aug. 11. He faces life in prison and a $50,000 fine. Bail was $500,000.

Deputies responded to a report of a collision. On scene, the suspect blew a .204 on a breath test. That is over twice the legal limit for driving under the influence, which is .08. He also failed field sobriety tests. He had a strong odor of alcohol and stumbled when he walked.
The suspect said he saw a pedestrian in the middle of the lane and swerved to miss him, but it was too late. The victim died on the way to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale.
The suspect had other arrests for DUI over 10 years ago.

He faces two terms of life in prison and $50,000 in fines for conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery; along with 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for possession of a stolen firearm. Bail was $200,000.

Court papers show that Bremerton police arrested the first man Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. in the 400 block of S. Summit Street.
The victim said he was sleeping in his bedroom when he heard noises. He saw an acquaintance at an open window. When he went to let him in, that suspect and another charged into the house, pushing the victim onto a couch. They both had black pistols pointed at his head.
They ransacked his home and asked where his “blower” (gun) was. He said in his bedroom under a blanket. That gun and some clothes were stolen. After they left, the victim hid in his bathroom, fearing they would shoot at his residence. The suspect he knew has a history of robberies and shootings.
One suspect was picked out of a photo lineup later. He and the man the victim knows were on multiple social media posts together. Video shows the suspect’s vehicle near the scene of the robbery. A stolen coat was found in that vehicle, along with a rifle. A getaway driver was also connected to the crime.
