A fire broke out at the M&T Cafe the night of March 9, prompting a response from Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue and temporarily closing the restaurant.

The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported that both northbound lanes of Silverdale Way in the 10400 block were blocked as crews worked to extinguish the flames. Authorities urged the public to avoid the area until further notice.

In a statement, M&T Cafe’s owners confirmed the fire and said the restaurant would remain closed as they assess the damage and begin repairs.

“We understand this is disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience,” the cafe’s statement says.
