Kingston motorcycle crash prompts airlift from Wolfle Elementary

Kingston motorcycle crash prompts airlift from Wolfle Elementary

North Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews responded to reports of a crash between a motorcycle and a minivan along SR 104 in Kingston around 5:17 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred at the intersection of SR 104 and Illinois Avenue after an 18-year-old Kingston driver pulled out onto the highway, in front of the motorcyclist as he was traveling westbound on SR 104. The driver of the van was charged with failing to yield.

Michele Laboda, a spokesperson for NKF&R, said the 28-year-old Port Townsend man suffered serious injuries after the motorcyle he was driving collided with the van.

While the injuries sustained by the motorcyclist did not appear to be immediately life-threatening, to ensure he would have access to the appropriate immediate care for the types of injuries he had sustained, the man was taken to a landing zone nearby at David Wolfle Elementary School and then transported via helicopter to the region’s only level 1 trauma center at Harborview Medical Center.
