PORT ORCHARD — While a ribbon-cutting ceremony Dec. 21 at the new McCormick Village Park on Old Clifton Road signaled that the second and final phase of work on the project was completed, unfortunately, it didn’t mean that area residents would immediately be able to climb on newly installed playground equipment or walk the park’s trails.

At least not just yet, according to Port Orchard City Hall.

A news release from the city’s public works department on Jan. 3 stated that due to several contractor items that were discovered after the ribbon was cut, the park can’t be open to the public until those unidentified issues are corrected.

The news release stated the park will be open as soon as possible.

“We appreciate your patience while we are completing this project,” the statement noted.
