Week 9 Football Roundup: North county teams shine while central teams struggle

North Kitsap 60, Olympic 19
Clayton Williams rushed for 212 yards and three touchdowns as the Vikings blew out Olympic in their regular season finale. Isaiah Kahana also scored a pair of rushing touchdown. Adam Johnson returned an interception 63 yards for a score and Zeke Gillick hit Malcolm Dewalt for a 60-yard touchdown in the first quarter, but it was all North Kitsap from there. The Vikings will play their district game at home against River Ridge, while the Trojans will head to Eatonville.

Cascade Christian 44, Klahowya 28
The Eagles lost their first league game of the season against perennial champs Cascade Christian, but they put up a fine effort in the 44-28 loss. John Hartford threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns, and added 100 rushing yards and a score on the ground. Drew Dickson caught five passes for 35 yards and one touchdown while returning a kick for another. Klahowya just could not contain Cascade Christian quarterback Parker Johnson, who threw for over 300 yards and five touchdowns. The Eagles can clinch a 1A state playoff berth next week against Bellevue Christian.

Sequim 41, Bremerton 21
The Knights hung with the league champs for a while, but Sequim pulled away in the second half to a 41-21 victory. Abraham Parish threw for a season-high 189 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown pass to Kelo Logova. Parish also ran for 59 yards and a score. Rasheed Joiner led the Knights rushing attack with 85 yards. But Sequim quarterback Riley Cowan carved up Bremerton to the tune of 239 yards and four touchdowns. The Knights close 2018 with a week 10 game against South Kitsap.

Gig Harbor 40, Central Kitsap 14
Alex Refilong gave Central Kitsap a 14-13 lead just before halftime, but Gig Harbor bounced back to win big, 40-14. Elijah McGee also scored on a 4-yard run. Central Kitsap will head up to Bellingham to take on Squalicum in the district round of the playoffs.
Next game: Nov. 2, 7:30 p.m., at Squalicum.
Kingston 32, Tenino 12
It was a big night for Garrett Sitting-Dog, who rushed for three touchdowns as the Bucs picked up their second win of the season. Kage McMahon also scored a 25-yard rushing touchdown. Kingston will look to get to three wins for the first time since 2015 in a Week 10 game against Evergreen.

Battle Ground 45, South Kitsap 7
The Wolves scored the first touchdown of the game on a 29-yard pass from Hezekiah Moore to Dajshon Keel, but that would be it as Battle Ground scored the next 45 points to extend South Kitsap’s losing streak to 19 games. They will look to avoid an 0-10 season next week at Bremerton.
