Olalla Elementary is a certified ‘green’ school

PORT ORCHARD — Olalla Elementary has qualified for the bronze certification from Washington Green Schools, a nonprofit agency recognizing schools working to create green, healthy school environments.

The school was recognized for recent improvements it helped make to Triangle Park and the development of an outdoor education program.

“I am so thankful for the support the district has given us in creating our amazing outdoor education program,” said Lisa Wickens, an Olalla Elementary teacher and outdoor education coordinator.

“The Facilities and Operations team was particularly helpful in making this dream a reality. There is no greater investment in the future of our community than to develop, encourage and empower our children to be active learners and seekers of knowledge.”
