New Kitsap County emergency management director named

The Kitsap County Emergency Management Council, made up of the mayors from the four cities and one county commissioner, unanimously appointed Michael Gordon as the new Director for the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management.
Gordon had served as the operations manager whose responsibilities included the plans and operations of the Emergency Operations Center, disaster communication coordination, and training of the county’s emergency responders.
Gordon joined the office in October 2005 after six years as the training program manager for the Washington State Emergency Management Office and 27 years as a Navy submarine officer. He brings with him many years of disaster response and recovery experience and a profound knowledge of emergency management. He holds an Industrial Operations Management degree and an MBA from Auburn University.
Gordon and his wife live in Poulsbo and have two children and one grandchild.
