Some local ways you can help relief efforts in Japan

Here are some local ways you can help the relief effort in Japan. If you know of more efforts, let us know (rwalker@northkitsapherald.com) and we’ll add them to the list. Thank you.

— Poulsbo’s Grounds for Change, 15773 George Lane NE, Suite 204, Poulsbo, will donate $2 to Mercy Corps from each $10 bag of special Japan Relief Blend.

— Bainbridge Gardens will match up to $1,000 of customer donations to the American Red Cross. Donations can be dropped off at the gardens at 9415 Miller Road NE.

— The Nipponzan Myohoji Temple on Bainbridge Island is accepting donations. Donations can be mailed to Nipponzan Myohoji, Senji Shonin, 6154 Lynwood Center Road NE, Bainbridge Island WA, 98110.

— All profits from Day 2 of the Tour of Architects, Saturday and Sunday, will be given to the American Red Cross for disaster relief in Japan. The Tour of Architects includes a tour of homes on Bainbridge Island on Saturday and a screening of the film, “My Architect, A Son’s Journey,” by Nathaniel Kahn.
