PO Library offering plenty of fun, tax help this month

The Port Orchard Branch of the Kitsap Regional Library is starting February with tax assistance from AARP volunteers on Saturday afternoons, new Saturday story times with new part-time children’s librarian Lisa Lechuga, and a “Valentine’s Day Lock-in” for teens on Feb. 12.
• Tonight (2/5): Play it Up, a game night for kids only, 5 to 6 p.m. Miss Shannon (Peterson) and Dan the Library Man will get kids moving with Wii Sports or MarioKart. Snacks are provided. Recommended for elementary aged children.
• Tomorrow (2/6): AARP Tax Assistance, 1 to 4 p.m. First-come, first-served in the library’s meeting room.
• Tomorrow (2/6): Saturday Storytime, 4 p.m. Stories with the new part-time children’s librarian, Lisa Lechuga. For toddlers and kindergarten-aged children.
• Monday (2/8): Toddler Storytime, 10:45 a.m. Bring your toddlers to enjoy stories, rhymes, songs and fun with Miss Shannon. Children must always be accompanied by an adult/caregiver. Age range: 18 months to 3 years.
• Monday (2/8): Preschooler Storyime, 11:45 a.m. Bring your preschoolers to enjoy stories, rhymes, songs and fun with Miss Shannon. Age range: 3 to 6 years.
• Monday (2/8): Teen Advisory Board, 6 to 7 p.m. Share recent reading/gaming/watching faves, help plan library programs and meet new friends. Age range: Teens.
• Monday (2/8): Gaming night for teens, 7 p.m. Play high-tech games like Wii and Rock Band, or low-tech ones like board games and cards. Age range: teens.
• Tuesday (2/9): Woodcarving Demonstration, 4 to 5 p.m. A live woodcarving demonstration with the Kitsap County Woodcarvers.
• Wednesday (2/10): Baby Storytime, 1 p.m. Stories, rhymes, songs and fun with Miss Shannon. Age range: Infant to 18 months.
• Wednesday (2/10): Pajama Storytime, 7 p.m. All ages are welcome to enjoy stories, rhymes, songs
• Friday, (2/12) Teen Anti-Valentine’s Day Lock-In, 7 to 11 p.m. For teens who “(are tired) of pink-stuffed animals and heart balloons” on Valentine’s Day and want to “revel in the dark side of love with entertaining games and activities and enjoy the classic film ‘Harold and Maude.’”
