A 22-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he attempted to outrun Washington State Patrol troopers on and around Highway 3 in Bremerton.
Troopers attempted to stop the man on the motorcycle shortly before 1:30 p.m. after he was observed by WSP aircraft driving over the posted speed limit, according to WSP. When a trooper attempted to stop him, he accelerated and drove away.
The pursuing trooper got the license plate number of the motorcycle and backed away “hoping the driver would slow down,” according to WSP. The WSP aircraft followed overhead and updated the ground units on the man’s whereabouts.
The man got off several Highway 3 exits in Bremerton, but eventually made his way back onto northbound Highway 3, driving at speeds of more than 100 mph.
Unaware he was being followed by the WSP aircraft, the man exited to State Route 303 and then southbound onto Old Military Road at a high rate of speed.
The man eventually drove to his residence where a trooper was waiting. The man was taken into custody without incident.
The man was booked into Kitsap County Jail and charged with felony eluding and reckless driving. His bail is set at $50,000.
