Drinking, fussing and assault, oh no

Joint action between the Poulsbo Police Department and Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old Port Ludlow resident about 11:20 a.m. Dec. 5 at the Hood Canal Bridge. The woman was arrested and booked into jail for fourth-degree assault and malicious mischief. Bail was set at $10,000.

A Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputy was asked to keep a lookout near the bridge by a member of the Poulsbo force who was called to a domestic violence incident in which the suspect was believed to be involved. According to KCSO reports, when arrested the suspect’s breath smelled like liquor and she had an open bottle of red wine, 3.2 grams of marijuana and smoking pipes in her car.

A Poulsbo officer transported the woman to jail and booked on domestic violence charges, while the Kitsap County Prosecutor’s Office was referred to for the woman’s drug possession.

A 37-year-old Poulsbo man was arrested and booked into jail for second-degree assault Dec. 5 after an incident involving a security guard at the Kitsap Mall in Silverdale. The victim, a 40-year-old mall security employee, told a Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputy that about 6 p.m. a man with a dog loose on mall property became confrontational when contacted and threatened him with a sharp-tipped pole, according to KCSO reports. The victim said he attempted to pepper spray the man, but was only able to pepper spray his leg.

According to the deputy’s report, the weapon was “a five-foot long wooden staff with a carved rhinoceros head at the end that could easily be used as a very dangerous weapon.” The Poulsbo man allegedly carried a large bundle of cash, and told the responding deputy he was talking to his mother through a gold tooth in his mouth. The staff was placed into evidence.
