NKSD hosts “Creatures of the Deep”
The fun begins today at 10 a.m. Students will have an opportunity to make and paint a squish fish to take home, learn about strange ocean creatures. Ron Hirschi, a scientist and local children’s book author who’s been featured on PBS Reading Rainbow, will be present and at 10 a.m. he’ll sign copies of his newest book “Deep Blue Sea.”
At 2 p.m. the museum will welcome Mary Fowler with her book “Full Fathom Five: A Daughter’s Search.” Fowler’s memoir reveals a lot about the perils and hardships of submarine service in wartime.
On Sunday at 1 p.m. the museum will host the 14th annual Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony. The program will include a video presentation, testimony from Pearl Harbor survivors, and musical selections by Navy Band Northwest. All three events are free and open to the public. Call (360) 396-5547 with questions.
