A Bremerton Police officer was stopped at a stop sign on southbound Broadway Avenue at Sixth Street at 2:45 a.m. Oct. 29 when he heard loud voices. He looked out his vehicle window and saw two men standing in the middle of Sixth Street in front of Monica’s Social Club.
The officer drove toward them and watched a short man walk up to a taller man. The tall man pointed at the officer, the shorter man looked, then punched the tall man in the face and ran northbound into a parking lot.
The officer got out of his car and chased the man. When he yelled that he had a Taser, the 20-year-old Bremerton man stopped. The officer handcuffed the man and while taking him to his vehicle, the man repeatedly yelled, “What’s your badge number, dog?”
The 20-year-old said the man he hit “punched him over a beer and he wasn’t going to let that happen.” The victim was not found.
The man was arrested and booked into jail for fourth-degree assault. He was later released.
Scrambled eggs a la floor
A Bremerton Police officer responded to an apartment in the 700 block of Chester Avenue in Bremerton at 5 p.m. Oct. 28 to check on a woman reportedly “passed out” while her two children ran around the lobby of the apartment building unattended.
The officer went to the woman’s apartment and found the door unlocked. The 21-year-old woman was wrapped in blankets on a couch and woke up when the officer called out to her. She said she fell asleep and was taking a nap with her 2-year-old and 1-year-old children.
The officer noted in his report that the woman’s apartment was messy, with dirty diapers, a pan of scrambled eggs and other items on the floor. He told the woman to clean up her apartment so the children would have a reasonable place to stay.
The woman said it is overwhelming with no family support in the area. No arrest was made.
